Excellent opportunity for a speech pathologist and clinical educator to work in a unique environment that combines a client-focused approach with evidence-based speech pathology services

THE ROLE

  • Salary Package: HEW 7,  From $104,726 - $113,545 plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro-rata rates apply

  • Appointment Type: Fixed-term April 2024 – May 2025, 2 days per week (Tuesday & Friday)

  • Locations: Macquarie University campus (North Ryde), Public School in Ryde

The Role

The Speech and Hearing Clinic is seeking a Speech Pathologist/ Clinical Educator to provide high-quality, evidence-based speech pathology services to clients. This role covers a paediatric caseload predominantly at the Speech and Hearing Clinic (including NDIS participants) and at a local primary school. The clinical areas of this role include individual and group assessment, therapy, and discharge planning.

This role also requires provision of clinical education, with the successful applicant supervising up to 3 students at a time, ensuring students are equipped with professional and speech pathology practice competencies for evidence-based speech pathology services.

The MQ Health Speech and Hearing Clinic provides both a quality clinical service to the community and clinical education for students of the Master of Speech and Language Pathology, and Master of Clinical Audiology. The clinic offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and rehabilitative speech pathology and audiology services to people of all ages with speech and hearing difficulties. Our services help Australians to participate in everyday life – at home, at school, at work or socially.

To be considered for this position, the applicant will demonstrate the below requirements in their CV and a 1 or 2 page cover letter:

  • Degree in Speech Pathology and Practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia

  • Demonstrated skill and experience delivering evidence-based assessment and intervention for paediatric literacy, speech and language

  • Demonstrated experience delivering clinical education

  • Proven ability to contribute to the improvement and operation of speech pathology services

  • Excellent time management, organisation, and communication skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of professional code of ethics and relevant healthcare legislation

  • Current NSW drivers’ licence and access to own transportation

  • Desirable experience working in schools

Employment in this position is conditional upon holding a Working with Children Check Clearance, NDIS Worker Check, and you providing evidence to satisfy the University that you meet the University’s requirements in relation to immunisation, where required, providing evidence from a registered general practitioner.
