Great opportunity for experienced Receptionists to join our Speech and Hearing Clinic team.

THE ROLE

  • Salary: HEW4 Level 1 ($50.69 per hour) plus 11% superannuation contribution

  • Appointment Type: Casual position

  • Location: Macquarie University (North Ryde)

The Role

This is a great opportunity for students seeking experience and further insight into our clinic. This opportunity exists to provide reception and administrative support to the Speech and Hearing Clinic at Macquarie University. Working as part of a team, this is a key role supporting the operation of the Clinic through high volume customer service and administrative support.

Key accountabilities include (not limited to):

  • Provide best practice reception and administrative services for the Clinic and its activities following Clinic protocols.

  • Manage the booking of appointments to ensure effective use of clinic rooms for clinicians and student placements.

  • Manage a high volume of inbound and outbound calls and emails with courtesy and empathy.

  • Manage daily business and administrative operations of the clinic using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Process client registrations, referrals, invoices and refunds, including processing claims for third party funding programs.

  • Ensure accurate data entry of client information and records whilst preserving confidentiality and privacy.

  • Respond to, or appropriately escalate, queries from staff, visitors, and members of the public about the Clinic and its activities.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and professional individual who enjoys interacting with customers/patients to provide excellent customer service in each interaction. You will have previous reception, administration, or customer service experience. Experience within a healthcare setting and using health-related software packages is desirable. You will enjoy working in a lively environment, have excellent organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise work while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

About Us

The Macquarie University Speech and Hearing Clinic provides best-practice clinical services in Audiology and Speech Pathology. The clinic is designed to deliver high quality integrated health services and excellence in clinical education. Clients are seen by either Audiologists or Speech Pathologists with students under supervision as part of their Master’s degree programs. Housed in the state-of-the-art Australian Hearing Hub, the Clinic has excellent facilities and is located alongside key partners.

The Clinic offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and rehabilitative speech pathology and audiology services to people of all ages with speech and hearing difficulties. We have 7 audiologists and 7 speech pathologists supported by 3 administrative staff. We also haveapproximately 200 student clinical placements on site per year. Our services help Australians to participate in everyday life – at home, at school, at work or socially.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer service or reception role

  • Interest in pursuing a career in medical administration, audiology or speech pathology

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive team culture.

  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality principles.

Desirable Criteria

Applications from students of 1st year Bachelor of Speech and Hearing will be highly regarded
