Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University
About The Position:
The Specialist, Digital Learning Resources is responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of Library learning resources for Learning and Teaching to support the Library’s educational goals. This role involves collaboratively developing open, reusable, and purpose-built interactive objects, resources, and multimedia materials to enhance student engagement and ensure effective curriculum delivery across the University.
Working closely with Subject Matter Experts, the Specialist identifies and negotiates the learning concepts, objectives, and deliverables for each project, translating these into digital resources that meet the necessary outcomes. Additionally, the Specialist may work on various projects and programs across the Library.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
Demonstrated understanding of design and production for student-centred digital learning resources, including innovative and accessibility-compliant content and experiences.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to enable evidence-based outcomes in design and management of digital learning resources.
Experience managing learning design projects and driving best practice developments with a strong background in education and pedagogy.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team whilst managing competing workflows and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
High-level interpersonal and professional communication skills to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams with different levels of technical knowledge.
Proven technical skills including sound knowledge of User Interface/User Experience Design aesthetics, web development, and ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
Evidence of experience in developing digital resources using current platforms and authoring tools.

To support the goals and operations of the University, the Library is arranged into 5 main functional areas: Learning; Teaching and Research; Collections; Quality and Engagement; and Information Management and Archives. The Libraryincreasingly delivers collections and services online to maximize access by the RMIT user population. In 2020 RMIT University had an enrolled population of nearly 96,000 students of which there were over 14,000 VE students, nearly 17,000 postgraduates and over 17,000 studying from offshore. The Library’s programs apply equally to this large and widely distributed range of students.
At RMIT Melbourne, the University Library operates from 4 different locations: the Swanston Library; the Bundoora Library; the Carlton Library and Brunswick Library and manages a Makerspace on the city campus. At RMIT Vietnam, the Library supports over 9,000 students from 2 locations: Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. All of the libraries are networked for wireless. They provide flexible spaces for individual and group study, computer equipped group study rooms and seminar rooms for academic and library research skills training.
