About the opportunity
The School of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sydney is seeking an exceptional Snow Fellowship funded Senior Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Mechanobiology and Biomechanics Laboratory (MBL). This 4-year fixed-term position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in haematology, thrombosis, and inflammation.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding research track record, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. They will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of thrombosis and cardiovascular research within the biomedical engineering discipline and the BME school.

In this role you will:
lead research projects investigating the role of blood cells in microvascular thrombosis
utilize advanced techniques including animal models of thrombosis, intravital microscopy and mechanobiology approaches
co-supervise PhD students and postdoctoral researchers
serve as deputy head for a Snow Fellowship laboratory
collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the university and externally
publish (or at least submit) high-impact research journal and secure category-1 competitive grant funding as a key team members.
About you

a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Hematology or related field
minimum 7 years postdoctoral research experience in thrombosis, inflammation and cardiovascular biology
extensive expertise in animal models of thrombosis and ischemia-reperfusion injury
strong publication record in top-tier journals in the field i.e. in Nature, Science and Cell series
demonstrated experience with intravital microscopy techniques and animal models of haematology and thrombosis
a track record of successful grant applications as a team member or key facilitators
experience co-supervising research students and staff in a large medical research institute or biomedical program.
Desirable Criteria:
experience which complements biology, haematology and haemostasis research
familiarity with drug discovery and development processes towards various cardiovascular disease models
knowledge of pre-clinical diagnostic approaches applied to thrombosis
