Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Technologist (NMR Spectroscopy) to join Research Infrastructure, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.

The Senior Technologist (NMR Spectroscopy) position will enable research and provide solutions to academic and industry clients through delivery of expert services to, and training of, end- users. The Senior Technologist (NMR Spectroscopy) will have a detailed understanding of one or more technical fields of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and Nano-Imaging, with particular emphasis on the use of NMR for the structural and physical analysis of solution and solid-state analytes. The role will also provide expert knowledge and/or general support to CARF nano-imaging platforms including, but not limited to, STM, AFM, and ion-beam microscopy

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to completion of a degree in a relevant technology area, with subsequent relevant experience.
  • Ability to supervise staff.
  • Evidence of extensive experience in conducting and troubleshooting NMR experiments and operations.
  • Experience with processing, interpretation and reporting of analytical data.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills in support of brokering collaborations with both internal and external stakeholders as well as promoting connectivity with industry clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a wide range of users, projects and samples to provide training and support to clients and achieve excellent research outcomes
  • Experience with developing and delivering training materials for enhancing user experiences.
  • Evidence of innovative approaches to problem solving and contribution to an agenda of continuous improvement in operational processes.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of policies and procedures (including ethics and intellectual property) associated with the establishment of research and commercial projects in a university context.
