About the opportunity

Due to an uplift in sourcing strategies and some internal promotions, the University is looking to bring on a Sourcing Professional as part of its growing operation. The Senior Sourcing Officer develops and executes sourcing activities as well as providing contracts administration as part of a team working on behalf of the whole of Central Operations Services (COS), which is a complex and high-volume environment. The Sourcing officer will be expected to provide commercial analysis and insights to support the negotiation of the best value outcomes for the University. They will prepare base COS contract instruments, working with the business to develop appropriate and consistent scope of requirements. Working in conjunction with OGC (legal), the jobholder drafts the contract instruments incorporating all negotiated outcomes and key performance indicators, and drafts variations as required. They will be working collaboratively with stakeholders, suppliers, peers and subject matter experts in Legal (OGC), ICT and Procurement.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide commercial and contracting services to COS, partnering with Procurement for contracts >$250K, hands-on sourcing for contracts <$250K, in accordance with University Procurement policy and best-practice commercial and value for money principals
  • contribute to the design of a contract sourcing and administration framework
  • provide commercial and contract services to COS
  • provide hands on support for preparation of all sourcing documentation, including capture of business scope and requirements
  • provide hands on support for sourcing processes, including provision of secretariat services at stakeholder meetings
  • draft necessary contract variations for review by the Commercial Manager. Coordinate scope and pricing variations
  • contribute to Management reporting of Contract Sourcing and Administration
  • contribute to regular operations and delivery reports, assisting the Commercial and Senior Manager on forecasting and resource management
  • provide advice and direction on University’s enterprise Procure to pay systems (ARIBA)
  • manage documentation of contracts under management including coordination with OGC and contract managers
  • work closely with Internal Audit measures, supporting and contributing to the controls framework and assurance processes providing coverage for all contracts under management

About you

  • demonstrated experience in contract sourcing, administration and undertaking procurement and managing complex high value contracts
  • demonstrated exceptional integrity, commerciality, and value for money focus in terms of values and behaviours, championing the importance of good supplier management in meeting the strategic deliverables of the business area
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels through sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills
  • strong Microsoft Office suite skills including advanced skills in Excel spreadsheets and charting for financial and commercial analysis and Word for contract preparation.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
