A unique opportunity is now available for an experienced Senior Research Technical Officer to join our team to coordinate the day-to-day operations and maintenance of materials testing and analysis facilities within our Centre for Future Materials (CFM) based in Springfield Campus.

Are you passionate about advancing scientific research and supporting the next generation of innovators? UniSQ is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Technical Officer to join our dynamic team. As a Technical Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing technical assistance and guidance to researchers and postgraduate students working in our cutting-edge research laboratories and testing environments.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Research Facility Manager, you will:

  • Provide technical support for researchers and postgraduate students using the research laboratories and associated services, experiments, equipment and data analysis tools.
  • Provide support for and training in the use of complex and specialised equipment within UniSQ’s research laboratories and testing environments.
  • Support researchers and postgraduate students in the formulation of test methodologies and development of safety risk assessments (SRA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Liaise with external testing service clients and advise on appropriate testing procedures and standards.

What will help you succeed

Together with your relevant qualification in materials, civil engineering or chemical engineering, you will have subsequent work experience in a technical laboratory environment as well as an ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of clients. You will also have:

  • Proven experience in conducting materials testing and analysis following recognised test standards and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating materials characterisation and analytical test equipment and working knowledge of using fire testing equipment.
  • Experience in working in engineering laboratories in a university environment or similar.
  • Proven experience in developing WHS documents related to laboratories and maintaining a safe and collaborative work environment.

Salary: Total remuneration range $102,135 to $110,617 pa (includes salary range of $86,299 to $93,466 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
