  • Part time, FTE 0.2 ( 1 day per week), fixed term until March 2025 

  • Opportunity to join the Multidimensional Research Group at School of Medical Sciences as a Senior Research Fellow 

  • Base Salary starting from $145,023 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation

Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.   

As a Senior Research Fellow, you will be working at the Camperdown Campus, Medical Foundation Building for the Multidimensional Research Group, School of Medical Sciences with senior Academic staff who all share a passion for the research that is being under taken. As a part-time senior Research Fellow, you will be assisting the research development of the team.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • help the team build and maintain a reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research, expanding knowledge and practice in the discipline

  • assist disseminating research knowledge and facilitate knowledge transfer to drive impact

  • help the team to maintain a research profile, including publication in academic or professional journals and engage in keynote addresses

  • assist drafting or potentially lead successful competitive research grants and/or generate other research income by exploring diverse funding opportunities

  • maintain quality, standards and excellence in research activities and output

  • provide mentoring and guidance to lower-level academics

  • contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled

  • establish partnerships, collaborations and engage in translational research for impactful outcomes in research, development, commercialisation, and policy improvement.

About you

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and sound judgement in resolving daily work matters

  • an established network of academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders

  • reputation at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within the discipline

  • significant experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity

  • significant experience supervising and mentoring others

  • well-developed, negation, conflict resolution, relationship building, influencing skills with the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
