Remuneration: $140,812 - $162,366 pa Level C / $169,553 - $186,788 pa Level D (plus 17% employer superannuation)

The Opportunity

Are you a distinguished researcher with a passion for improving women's sexual and reproductive health? SPHERE, an NHMRC-funded Centre of Research Excellence based at Monash University's Department of General Practice, is looking for a Level C or Level D research-only academic to join our team. Located at the St Kilda Rd campus, SPHERE is dedicated to enhancing access to and the quality of women's health care services, focusing on preconception care, contraception, medical abortion services, and the diagnosis and management of endometriosis and pelvic pain.

About SPHERE SPHERE is guided by a team of national and international experts in women’s health, general practice, pharmacy, nursing, epidemiology, knowledge translation, health economics, and policy development. We strive to improve women's health care services in primary care settings.

Your Role As a Level C or Level D academic, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the SPHERE Research Program. Leveraging your expertise in statistics and epidemiology, you will oversee major research programs, collaborate with key data custodians, and provide critical statistical input into our research activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research and produce high-quality publications
  • Supervise research-support and administrative staff
  • Lead major research projects and teams
  • Promote research collaborations with external bodies
  • Prepare and submit research proposals to external funding bodies
  • Oversee financial management of research grants
  • Participate in professional activities, including conferences and seminars
  • Contribute to teaching programs and supervise postgraduate research projects
  • Engage in research-related administrative functions and policy development
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and planning committees

Key Selection Criteria

  • A doctoral qualification in statistics, epidemiology, women's health, or a related discipline
  • Evidence of a national profile with a trajectory toward international leadership
  • A strong publication record in high-quality international journals
  • Proven ability to secure research funding
  • Experience in managing large research projects or teams
  • Successful supervision of honours and postgraduate research projects
  • Understanding of research governance and reporting requirements
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
