As a Senior Prospect Strategist, the role includes:

Prospect Research and Analysis

  • Research, analyse, and report on individuals, corporations, and foundations identified as prospects for philanthropic purposes.
  • Manage small to medium prospect identification projects within a specified timeline.

Research Profiles

  • Produce confidential research profiles on donors, prospective donors, organisations, and projects to support fundraising activities at Deakin University.

Independent Work and Quality Assurance

  • Independently identify and evaluate the gift potential of new prospects.
  • Provide guidance and undertake quality assurance checks on work produced by team members.

Data Management

  • Manage data entry of donor and prospect-related information from research, rating, and cultivation.
  • Assist with rating and strategy planning for prospects.

Prospect Identification

  • Identify new major gift prospects by conducting high-quality research using publicly available sources, databases, staff, supporters, volunteers, and other valid sources.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated experience in prospect research with the ability to profile, map and match major donor interests to the University’s priorities and the ability to develop strategies to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Experience working within university philanthropy, or the not-for-profit sector (Desirable)  
  • An interest in philanthropy and its impact on society (Desirable)  
  • Experience working with Blackbaud CRM or equivalent CRM such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce (Desirable)  
  • Graduate qualification with a major in information management, business, journalism, communication or similar discipline, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience in undertaking research and intelligence gathering in the area of fundraising, relationship management, marketing, business, or corporate research
