Why Your Role Matters

The Senior Project Officer, is responsible for coordinating and supporting the work of UNSW academic alliances and strategic initiatives. The Senior Project Officer will play an important role in project management of initiatives and events, communication and engagement with faculties and divisions to support the development and implementation of the academic alliances, programs, and projects, aimed at raising the University's profile and impact.

The role of Senior Project Officer, reports to the Manager, Strategic Alliances & Initiatives and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage specific projects, initiatives, or events for the UNSW alliances in conjunction with the agreed business plans and KPIs.
  • Oversee the development of project plans and schedules and participate in planning processes as required.
  • Support alliance governance and management structures, liaising with other administrative units across UNSW and partner institutions to ensure projects are managed and delivered in a timely and effective manner, and aligned appropriately to UNSW processes.
  • Establish and maintain systems to manage projects and record information.
  • Build and manage collaborative working relationships with academic and professional staff and stakeholders, including contractors/consultants and external organisations to deliver the strategic and operational goals of the UNSW alliances.
  • Contribute to and support the development of proposals, business cases, guidelines, and other business documents.
  • Provide high level administrative support to the Strategic Alliances & Initiatives unit including minute taking, travel and budget management, website maintenance.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience, or inequivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of relevant education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including setting up systems for stakeholder engagement and communication, tracking and project reporting.
  • High level organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads to ensure timely delivery of tasks.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain effective professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise and control workload with a positive sense of initiative.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision, show initiative and contribute positively to a team.
  • Proven ability to drive collaboration and successfully manage competing priorities.
