This is an exciting opportunity to lead the daily operations of the Deakin-led cohort study “Triple B Pregnancy Cohort Study: Bumps, Babies, and Beyond” . The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for managing the current wave of data collection “Life at 15”, including participant recruitment, follow-up, and reimbursement; ethics modifications; participant engagement and communications; and participant tracing.

The Senior Project Officer will also work with the principal investigator, Associate Professor Delyse Hutchinson, and other investigators across several institutes as well as project staff and stakeholders to facilitate the successful running of this NHMRC-funded study.

This unique role requires a strong communicator who is able to manage multiple stakeholders and has the confidence to conduct themselves in a professional yet friendly manner. Experience working with longitudinal studies and/or with families in a research setting is desirable.

As a Senior Project Officer, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of new study processes and ensure the effective management of the study
  • Assist with the recruitment and management of participants, communicating clearly and with influence
  • Monitor study progress and provide regular updates to the research team and study investigators
  • Create and maintain effective communication processes with participants and investigators, including newsletters, social media updates, and website updates
  • Respond to study-related issues and recommend corrective actions and/or escalate to supervisors in a timely manner
  • Train and guide junior staff in data collection processes and guidelines
  • Understand ethics submission process and complete ethics documentation, including modifications and annual reports

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A degree qualification in Psychology or other relevant field or a combination of other undergraduate qualification and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a project support position including planning, monitoring, and supporting with the evaluation of research projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with research participants, including in recruitment, retention, and/or data collection.
  • Familiarity with ethical, considerate approach to data collection and management in working with study participants.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
