The role

RMIT Vietnam is strengthening its engagement with government and industry to deliver innovation and impact in the areas of smart and sustainable cities, social innovation, emerging technologies, and regional collaboration in Southeast Asia. Through the RMIT Vietnam Engagement portfolio, the Senior Manager - Engagement, Government & Partnerships leads initiatives that leverage external partnerships to drive innovation and impact, aligning with RMIT University’s Knowledge with Action strategic plan and the RMIT Vietnam Country Commitment and positioning RMIT Vietnam as the leading university of impact in Asia Pacific. The RMIT Hanoi Industry and Innovation Hub also serves as a front door for much of this activity with the possibility of developing other sites at a later date. In consultation with RMIT Vietnam Associate Pro Vice Chancellor and Strategic Advisor - Engagement, the Senior Manager works collaboratively with university leadership and functional teams to engage government and industry and deliver on strategic objectives.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Champion partnerships by developing and strengthening relationships with government and industry, actively engaging in networks, and representing and promoting RMIT Vietnam as the leading university of impact in Asia Pacific.

  • Identify, align, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners that will enable the delivery of local priorities and institutional objectives.

  • Lead the delivery of RMIT Vietnam-led partnership initiatives, including the development and implementation of activities relating to the Hanoi Industry and Innovation Hub and its network, RMIT Vietnam Strategic Innovation Challenge, and RMIT Vietnam Strategic Investment Fund.
  • Define a team and develop an operational plan to deliver outcomes and determine success across various program and project activities, including a case management system to manage key relationships, a service delivery model to provide excellence in the engagement experience, criteria to map and align initiatives to the strategic plan, systems to deliver outcomes, and tools to assess progress and impact.
  • Manage high-level administration of strategic content and events including briefs, presentations, proposals, and event planning, communication, media assets, ensuring due diligence and compliance.
  • Monitor, analyse and report to identify and communicate trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats against targets, make recommendations, breakdown barriers and provide solutions.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as agreed by the Strategic Advisor, Engagement.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or proven experience in a similar role.

  • Demonstrated strategic level understanding, commercial acumen, and relationship management experience, engaging with government and industry and working within higher education in Asia Pacific.

  • Significant experience in the coordination of people and project management to deliver outcomes in a complex organization, within budget and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to communicate, build credible connections, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, using an inclusive and collaborative style, communicating cross-culturally and an ability to influence effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and creatively with an energetic, self-motivated approach and strong willingness to work in a team in an evolving and dynamic work environment.
  • Awareness of the regulatory standards, legal and financial matters relating to contracts, consultancy, and service agreements.
  • High-level writing, analysis, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position and RMIT Values.

Further information 

The role located is Hanoi, Vietnam and is open for both local and expatriate candidates.

If you are an expatriate candidate, you will require a work permit to work in Vietnam.  To qualify for a work permit you will need (at minimum) a degree in a relevant field to the position and must be able to provide official written confirmation (statement of service) of at least 3 years’ senior management related experience. 


English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (General) with a score of at least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.
