Overview
We are looking for an outstanding forward-thinking academic to become one of our next senior leader in our Counselling discipline.
The School of Arts and Humanities, Edith Cowan University seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Counselling. As a senior academic you will be contributing to the development of the next generation of Counselling professionals through teaching, research and professional engagement. This new continuing position, located at the Joondalup campus, joins an existing team of academics who work in our Counselling programs complementing our existing team of skilled and accredited academics who are responsible for a Bachelor of Counselling, a generalist Master of Counselling, and a specialist Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy. These courses produce graduates with excellent applied skills and theoretical knowledge to sustain the profession of counselling in caring for individuals, groups, and communities.
The Role
You will provide outstanding, forward-thinking academic leadership in the discipline of Counselling as well as be involved in the teaching of units of study in one or more of our counselling courses. A particular focus of the role will be to mentor and develop more junior colleagues while contributing to teaching, research curriculum development, and course innovation.
Organisational Context
The position reports to the Associate Dean (Psychology, Counselling and Criminology) and will be a member of the Counselling academic group, working closely with the course coordinators for the Bachelor of Counselling, Master of Counselling and Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy programs. You will play a vital role in supporting development of our new public-facing counselling service (that provides placements to postgraduate students) housed off-campus in ECU’s Health Centres. As a senior leader in Counselling, you will also work in the broader school environment and collaborate with other senior academics in the School to forge transdisciplinary solidarity in our academic work.

You will be an outstanding academic already working as a Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor within the Australian higher education system and closely involved in the scholarship of Counselling through teaching, research and practice. Selection Criteria
It is desirable that you have a PhD in counselling and experience in, and knowledge of counselling.
To be considered for this position, you will have, at a minimum, a master’s degree (AQF Level 9) in Counselling, but preferably a PhD, or in an equivalent field and 5 years’ relevant professional experience. You will also have registration (or eligibility for registration) with ACA or PACFA and preference given to those who are ACA or PACFA accredited supervisors.

Benefits and Remuneration
This position provides a full-time salary of $138,726 to $182,832 p.a (Level C/D) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
