Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT

At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT , our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory.  We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.

Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce.  All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community.


About the Role

The Senior Lecturer will be responsible for making a significant and wide-ranging contribution to leadership in teaching and scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching. They will be expected to draw upon their significant and senior roles in clinical practice to maintain and develop industry partnerships for teaching, learning, educational scholarship that articulates with work integrated learning, innovative placement models and providing contemporary and high-quality placement education, through clinical skills training, simulation and service provision.

As a member of the Rural & Remote Health Discipline in the Northern Territory, the Senior Lecturer will also have a key leadership role in service to the College and/or University in achieving the outcomes of the partnership between the Northern Territory Government, the Australian Government, and Charles Darwin University to prepare fit-for-context Northern Territory health and medical workforce.


About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Doctorate or equivalent clinical/professional experience and standing

  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia managed by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Relevant and extensive contemporary clinical experience in acute and/or primary health care

  • Knowledge of the clinical context within the Northern Territory and the ability to support students in this area

  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary education practice relevant to the discipline of medicine (essential), rural and remote health (desirable), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health (desirable)

  • Significant and sustained evidence of excellence in teaching performance at a tertiary level, inclusive of simulation and/or clinical setting.
