About the role:

The Senior lecturer will lead unit and course teaching teams in UG and/or PG programs including the new suite of postgraduate courses in Design for Circular Cities including Master of Science and Graduate Certificate to improve the student learning experience and outcomes. The position will lead growing, high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs. It will also foster and develop collaborations that enhance teaching, research or creative activities in the discipline area.

This position is suited to a person with an excellent record and passion for scholarly learning and teaching and a keen interest in exploring and fostering new areas of research and researcher development to have real-world impact.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will:

  • Undertake leadership as Course Director of the new suite of postgraduate courses in Design for Circular Cities including Master of Science and Graduate Certificate.
  • Develop and lead a range of strategic University-wide projects and continuous improvement initiatives to advance innovation and practice in circular city design.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality courses related to Circular Cities, including Urban Systems, and Environmental Systems.
  • Collaborate with Faculties, Schools/Departments, and other Deakin Divisions to innovate curriculum and learning design for circular cities to improve student experiences and success.
  • Maintain up-to-date applied working knowledge and expertise in relation to circular city design, sustainable practices, and contemporary learning design to support student experiences and success.
  • Conduct scholarly research and publications with an emphasis on circular city design innovation and learning methodologies.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area.
  • Highly developed knowledge, skills and expertise in circular city design, sustainable practices, and innovative teaching methods to support quality student experiences and learning outcomes.
  • Evidence of the ability to lead and/or support the development and execution of a diverse range of projects and initiatives designed to engage stakeholders broadly and collaboratively in innovation in circular city design education.
  • Evidence of excellence in contribution to innovative teaching at postgraduate levels, in online, campus-based, and blended learning environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to achieve influence and impact and to build support for ideas and actions through the development of strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to adopt a scholarly and evidence-based approach to all areas of practice, including evidence of publications in scholarly journals and other venues.
