Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Environment Partner to join Health, Safety and Environment, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.

The Senior Environment Partner provides professional guidance to the QUT community and contractors relating to the interpretation, application and integration of HSE principles, strategies and legislation, with a focus on environmental protection. The position provides guidance, quality advice, and technical and project support on a range of HSE matters relating to work, teaching and research-based activities. The role engages with stakeholders on a range of issues, including compliance requirements, risk and incident management, training and skill development. The Senior Environment Partner promotes and encourages the development of a culture of leadership and continuous improvement in environmental management.

What you need to succeed

1.    Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in environment, science, engineering or other related discipline (occupational hygiene, natural sciences) in conjunction with:
a.    an environment or HSE post graduate qualification or equivalent; and
b.    a minimum of five years’ experience in an environmental or HSE role within a large complex organisation.
2.    Demonstrated knowledge and application of relevant legislation, standards and guidelines including environmental protection, and success in applying and implementing HSE practices, particularly in risk management, HSE management systems.
3.    Proven record of success in the development of appropriate strategies, policies and procedures, and the ability to coordinate and conduct organisational environmental management systems and audits.
4.    Demonstrated effective interpersonal, presentation, consultation and negotiation skills along with an ability to manage complex, emotional or controversial issues sensitively.
5.    Demonstrated ability to maintain, analyse and interpret data to produce well-written succinct, definitive and persuasive reports providing recommendations to senior leaders and clients to inform policy, procedure and effective systems.
6.    A record of working effectively within a team as well as engaging and collaborating with related service areas.
