About Information and Digital Services 

Information and Digital Services (IDS) are a pivotal resource of the University, providing information and digital technology services and support to the Flinders University staff and student community. The IDS team apply technical expertise to support university projects and provide core services such as IDS ServiceDesk, Information Security, Data, Architecture and Integration, Audio visual simulation and event services and more. 

 
About the Role 

As the Senior Data & Analytics Architect & Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical and operational design, planning, development, configuration, maintenance and support of data and analytical services in accordance with IDS data and analytics architecture principles, guardrails, and design standards.

The role is key in delivery of crucial projects within IDS in alignment with the IDS Data and Analytics Capability Hub where all relevant IDS data and analytics resources have either a full or dotted reporting line into.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Development, and maintenance of components of the data and analytics platform including the data lake, model design and data transformation.

  • Working with projects, product owners, solution architects and technology vendors to engineer and deliver data models aligned with the IDS data and analytics architecture principles, guardrails and design standards. 

  • Supporting the development of business cases for data & analytics solutions to support the delivery of project outcomes.

  • Contributing to the design and development of the University's data and analytics architecture and strategy. 

About You 

As the successful candidate, you have solid knowledge of data processing languages, including SQL and Python. You are proficient in using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks and SQL Server Database to create data processing solutions.

You have excellent understanding of data modelling methodologies and coding algorithms for effective collaboration with data analysts.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Information Technology or relevant technical area, and / or equivalent relevant experience in an IT environment.

  • High level strategic thinking, data, and analytical skills to support outcomes and meet the University's strategic goals.

  • Broad experience in building and managing customer relationships and expectations. 

  • High level experience in data warehousing or business intelligence design, or the use of associated tools, or with processes of implementation.
