POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Counsellor, based in RMIT SGS campus holds a key position within the Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) in providing assessment and interventions at an individual, group and broader organisational level. The Senior Counsellor has a secondary guidance role in the provision of CAPS services and its ongoing evaluation and development.
Related duties include working with the families of students who seek counselling, working with learning advisors and academic staff to ensure early detection of psychological problems or learning conditions, working with Equitable Learning and Accessibility Services (ELA), Safer Community and University’s medical services provider concerning student mental support. The Senior Counsellor will be required to provide secondary and tertiary consultation to RMIT staff in connection with students’ issues.
This role will be responsible for managing individual and group caseload for counselling of current RMIT students, preparation and facilitation of workshops related to enhancing student wellbeing and providing case consultation for the team of Counsellors based in SGS and HN campus.
The Senior Counsellor is a senior member, focusing on development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services in collaboration with a diverse and skilled team of Counsellors and Outreach Specialist.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Degree/Masters in Counselling or Psychology or Social Work and/or qualification/experience in education setting
- Membership/eligibility for membership with respective professional Counselling, Psychological or Social Work Association
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural skills to complement formal training in counselling or psychology or social work

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
For any role, English Language Proficiency may also be proven by showing successful completion of secondary education to a level qualifying to enter university study while being instructed through the medium of English, as per the RMIT University recognised qualification list.
