About This Opportunity 

The Senior Coordinator, Marketing & Communications is responsible for promoting the Centre through the design, development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing, communication and engagement plan. This position will advise and assist the Centre Director, Portfolio Leaders and Chief Operations Officer (COO) to plan and implement strategic and operational marketing and communications activities online, in print and in person to promote and profile the ARC-IFC from a National perspective with National and international impact.  

Key to this role will be leading the Centre’s web and social media presence as a critical method of engaging Indigenous communities and particularly remote communities to build, strengthen and expand partnerships and collaborations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences, stakeholders, and internal and external audiences.  

This role also includes working with researchers in the creation of the National Indigenous Knowledge Infrastructure (NIKI), advertising Centre outcomes and activities, coordinating website design and maintenance, interaction with media outlets and producing Centre publications, annual reports, and materials for a wide variety of target audiences, ranging from stakeholders to schools to the public.

This position will be located at the Centre’s UQ Node but will work across all Nodes nationally. 

Key responsibilities will include: 
Strategic:

  • Develop and implement marketing plan aligned with goals and KPIs

  • Advise on communication and marketing policies & implement processes for material preparation and editing

  • Develop targeted communications for Indigenous audiences & manage the Centre’s media calendar and events

  • Project manage marketing tactics & supervise Community Engagement & Events Coordinator

  • Build relationships with stakeholders nationally and facilitate internal communication within the Centre and Nodes

  • Collaborate with university partners on communications & support Capacity Building, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, and Partnerships

  • Maintain quality standards and ensure compliance

  • Monitor and improve marketing effectiveness, report to stakeholders

Website & Social Media

  • Develop and manage Social Media Strategy & Implementation plan

  • Work with COO and Centre Director on website design and development

  • Act as webmaster, oversee website content updates

Publications, Media and Public Relations

  • Prepare culturally appropriate content for various publications

  • Support script development for video and animation

  • Research and develop content for media releases, news items, and web communication

  • Identify opportunities for public engagement and manage contributions to debates

  • Manage content distribution via eDMs and social media channels

Internal Communications & Training 

  • Train researchers and students in effective science communication

  • Develop internal induction materials and onboarding processes

  • Provide marketing and communications advice to support research activities

  • Foster strong working relationships and knowledge sharing within the Centre

  • Assist with research submissions and presentations for senior representatives

Other:

  • Attend marketing, communication, and engagement events for ARC-IFC

  • Perform additional duties as directed by the COO

This is a full-time fixed-term position for up to 3 years and the successful candidate will be required to be predominately based on campus. Part time working arrangements may be considered.

At HEW level 7, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,649.64 - $105,244.58, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $113,076.28 - $123,136.15annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.


About You  

  • A marketing or communications degree with at least 4 years relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in marketing within a large organisation.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and successfully implementing marketing and communications activities and initiatives, preferably with some experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences where multiple stakeholders are engaged.

  • Excellent written, and oral communication skills including ability to negotiate, analyse and resolve issues and maintain relationships across a range of stakeholders.

  • The ability to write engaging copy for short publications, health promotion and digital mediums.

  • Demonstrated skill and experience in the use of website content management systems, ideally WordPress.

  • Proven organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines whilst demonstrating accuracy and strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated evidence of a strong work ethic, a flexible approach, energy, and enthusiasm.

  • The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team and a willingness to support the work of other team members as required.

  • Ability to adapt to meet changing needs and priorities of the team.

  • Experience in a university setting, particularly in research environments and knowledge of the higher education sector is highly desirable
