About This Opportunity 

Locally known as Senior Principal Consultant, HR Governance and Projects, you will be responsible for ensuring effective HR governance and compliance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the function. Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Projects, the role manages all governance activities for the HR function including maintain and improving HR’s information management framework, supporting annual reporting and compliance requirements and coordinating education and training for HR. The role is also responsible for supporting the delivery of HR transformation initiatives that focus on improving service delivery and enhancing the performance of the function. This role is instrumental in identifying and implementing best practices within the HR domain and plays a pivotal role in shaping the overall employee experience.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Support the development of governance frameworks, KPIs and measures for HR service delivery and evaluate, review and refine as required

  • Keep abreast of emerging strategic trends and transformation initiatives within Human Resources, particularly in the Higher Education industry and make recommendations for change at UQ

  • Support the analysis of business issues and generate insights and solutions including recommendations for adoption of suitable technologies

  • Manage and maintain HR’s knowledge and information management framework ensuring all information sources remain up to date

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing by engaging with employees, teams, and stakeholders in HR, encouraging their participation in transformation activities

  • Lead and manage HR projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organisational goals

  • Support the preparation of consultation, change and training material for projects across the HR function

This is a full-time, permanent position.

At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,975 - $122,176, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $127,500 - $142,946 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.


About You  

We are seeking an experienced HR professional with post graduate qualifications in Business, Human Resources, Project Management or a related field or an equivalent combination of qualifications and workplace experience. In this key role, you will have the opportunity to shape and influence the effectiveness and efficiency of the HR function and play a vital role in enhancing the team culture.

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting large scale organisational transformation initiatives and knowledge of project management methodologies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly and succinctly

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including the ability to influence key stakeholders to drive HR initiatives forward

  • Expert skills in creating and curating content, including writing clear and concise documents, articles, and guides

  • Proficiency in analysing data, metrics, and trends to derive meaningful insights. Ability to interpret and present complex HR data in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated high level organisational ability, attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities

  • Ability to work autonomously, combined with a high level of initiative, drive and enthusiasm
