About the Role
This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Architecture and Information in the Information Technology department.  This key purpose of this role is the development and maintenance of the security architecture required to provide the strategic direction for new and existing technologies used to support the operation of the university, and the subsequent adoption of this architecture throughout IT and associated projects. The successful applicant will also be responsible for the oversight of the security aspects of systems implementation across the organisation. 

As a key role in Swinburne’s Cyber Security Program, the Security Architect will be embedded within the Cyber Security Team, led by the Chief Information Security Officer. The role is pivotal in creating robust security structures to protect the institutions data, systems, and networks from cyber threats and breaches. 

This successful applicant will need to quickly develop a deep understanding of the universitys IT systems. Using this, the Security Architect must be able to anticipate potential security challenges and develop proactive solutions to mitigate risks.

About You 
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Proven experience in cybersecurity architecture and risk management.  
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, including cloud-based services.
  • Experience in shaping and leading the end-to-end development of a solution architecture for security and controlling the conformance of its implementation by system integrators and internal teams.
  • In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and standards.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
  • Architectural certifications, such as TOGAF, would be a plus.
