About the Role
The Scholarships and Prizes Officer you will play an important role in supporting the promotion and effective operation of the scholarships and prizes program within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. The position combines administration, promotion of the faculty’s awards programs for graduate coursework and PhD research students. You will provide advice to prospective applicants on the Faculty’s scholarship and prize program as well as ensure that all scholarships and prizes are paid in a timely manner and in accordance with trusts/deeds.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the implementation of the Student Experience strategic plan taking into consideration the full current student journey, need and mindset of the student experience
- Ensuring administration of the scholarships and prizes are awarded in the terms outlined in the relevant scholarship and/ or trust deeds
- Supporting effective and efficient administrative selection processes for scholarship and prize recipients
- Managing day to day queries from students, academic staff and other stakeholders related to scholarships and prizes
Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for someone with highly developed organisation skills, including the ability to plan ahead, work proactively, and manage a range of tasks simultaneously while ensuring strong attention to detail. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to provide advice and support to a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.
You will also have:
- A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to be proactive in maintaining systems and ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery
- Experience maintaining accurate records and databases

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
