About the Role 
Swinburne University is currently seeking a Scholarly Resources Librarian to join their dynamic Library team. The Scholarly Resources Librarian plays a key role in evaluating, acquiring, and managing scholarly resources essential for supporting teaching, learning, and research activities. 

In this varied role, you will contribute to the timely and effective evaluation and renewal of a range of subscription resources and investigate new resources. You will apply your skills in analytics and data visualisation to support ongoing budget management and collection evaluation. Leveraging your communication skills, you will negotiate with vendors on pricing and licence terms to optimise value for money for the University. You will help coordinate complex invoicing workflows to ensure timely payment and uninterrupted access to resources. You will also have the opportunity to initiate and lead collection and process improvement projects.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in the acquisition and management of scholarly resources, preferably in an academic library.
  • Strong knowledge of issues and trends in collection development, acquisitions, licensing and access.
  • Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to manage projects and complete tasks to deadlines.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Demonstrated skills in digital technologies including library management systems (preferably Alma), analytics software and finance systems.

Qualifications

Degree in library or information science or equivalent which qualifies for Associate (Professional) membership of the Australian Library and Information Association and relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
