Position Summary

The Risk Manager supports and works together with the Head of Risk and Compliance to implement and maintain the risk management policies and frameworks across RMIT Vietnam.

The role is responsible for the implementation and oversight of Risk Management framework that effectively manages risks across the Vietnam operations and providing insights and advice on risk management and assurance activities. The role also includes providing business partner support to risk champions and portfolios to identify, measure and evaluate all key current, emerging and future risks.

Reports to: Head of Risk and Compliance – RMIT Vietnam


KEY ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Take full ownership in collaboration with Headquarters and key Vietnamese stakeholders, to implement the risk management framework throughout RMIT Vietnam.
  • Manage continuous reviews of the entity’s risk management policy and framework to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
  • Deliver high level reporting on risk management to higher management level, Vietnam Leadership Team and the Members’ Council of RMIT Vietnam in executive management and governance committees.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Risk and Compliance, build a collaborative and cohesive team of stakeholders. This will achieve effective and efficient risk oversight, fostering a high-performing and engaged group, ultimately strengthening the risk culture across RMIT Vietnam.
  • Implement initiatives in collaboration with Headquarters to improve the organization's ability to capitalize on opportunities by fostering effective risk management readiness. This will be achieved through communication, training, performance measurement, and change management programs.
  • Effectively challenge and assure against the activities and decisions that materially affect RMIT Vietnam's risk profile or cause management to act outside the risk appetite and tolerance of the University.
  • Work collaboratively to implement a risk appetite framework and measurements aligned with the Council's risk tolerance.
  • Facilitate risk reviews and assessments for key initiatives or projects that cross multiple schools, or portfolios, and may materially impact the University.
  • Undertake deep-dive reviews and investigations into major incidents, issues or concerns that may significantly impact the University.
  • Facilitate and oversee effective business resilience planning in accordance with the RMIT enterprise resilience framework.
  • Coordinate and oversee the insurance function together with Headquarters to manage the annual process of insurance cover, claims management and reporting.
  • Support risk assurance and other review activities to report to RMIT Vietnam leadership and conduct assessment and follow up with various teams on their treatments. Ensure timely update to riskware to have most updated information source from risk system.
  • Other duties as directed by the Head of Risk and Compliance within the scope of this classification.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or related fields.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a management or senior risk management position in a multinational company in Vietnam or region.

  • Experience in leading and undertaking risk, control, or compliance assurance activities. Education related experience is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated mastery of risk disciplines at an organisation wide and integrated level, risk processes, tools and techniques, risk-related regulations and compliance.

  • A thorough knowledge of professional standards, frameworks and tools to support risk management and regulation.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence a culture of risk awareness in the organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, influencing and relationship building skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a range of people across and external to the University and in a wide range of cultural and communication contexts.

  • High level of initiative and the capacity to manage competing priorities within tight deadlines.

  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position and RMIT Values.

English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 6.5 (General) with a score of at least 6.0 or 170 in Lingua Skills.
