About the opportunity

Established in 1855, Sydney Law School has made a significant contribution to the Australian judiciary, politics and public life. The Law School is notable for its strong links to the practising profession, barristers, judges and solicitors giving lectures in core legal subjects. The Law School attracts high calibre students to its undergraduate and postgraduate programs and has an internationally respected faculty of scholars.

The Law School is seeking a Research Support Officer to support the Law Schools Strategic Plan, supporting engagement and communication activities, coordinating research data collection activities, and providing pre- and post-award research administration support.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide pre- and post-award research administration support to academic staff within the Law School including expert assistance in the preparation of grant applications to the Australian Research Council (ARC) and other agencies
  • coordinate the research data collection activities within the Law School
  • develop and implement research promotion activities, including developing content, publishing information relating to research activity and administrative support for workshops and seminars
  • provide high quality professional research support services, including supporting the implementation of the School’s Strategic Plan.

About you

  • demonstrated experience of providing high quality research administration support and exceptional attention to detail
  • demonstrated experience of undertaking a range of academic research promotion activities to strengthen research profile
  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
  • demonstrated ability to interpret and implement policy and procedures and in establishing and reviewing administrative processes
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters.
