Research Development and Support 

Research Development and Support (RDS) works with Flinders researchers, Colleges, Centres and Institutes, other portfolios, and external stakeholders to proactively support our research. Our teams underpin Flinders’ research evolving from ideas through to impact. RDS is part of the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides excellence in all facets of research management and promoting Flinders’ research. 

 
About the Role

As Research Support Assistant, you will provide vital research administrative support to researchers within the College of Science and Engineering and related Centres and Institutes.

Working closely with the College RDS support team you will:

  • Provide advice on the interpretation of funding guidelines and administrative procedures in accordance with university policies and other relevant information.

  • Assist researchers with the administrative aspects of the preparation and submission of grant and tender applications.

  • Communicate research funding and training opportunities.

  • Provide secretariat support to committees and/or working groups within the College.

  • Deliver an excellent customer service experience by proactively investigating, assembling and communicating information on a wide range of issues related to research to a diverse internal audience.

About You

You will demonstrate a high degree of initiative and experience in delivering high quality administration and support services within a large and complex organisation, with experience in university administrative systems and procedures. You will be an excellent communicator who uses their high-level interpersonal skills to develop strong and collegial relationships with staff and stakeholders. With well-developed written communication skills, you will provide administrative support to assist the operations of the College and related Centers and Institutes. You will apply your analytical and problem-solving skills and work well both individually and as part of a team, exercising judgment in the prioritizing of tasks to deliver set objectives and continuously improve processes and procedures. Your keen attention to detail will help to demonstrate your commitment to high quality service delivery and you will have well-developed computing skills in using office computer applications.

You will also have completed a degree, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
