Research Scientist - High Temperature Chemistry

Updated: 11 days ago

  • Bring your experience in high temperature experiment methodologies
  • Contribute to projects on decarbonisation of iron ore, steel industry and critical mineral initiatives
  • Join CSIRO - Australia's leading scientific research organisation

Many of CSIRO's innovations were once considered impossible. Fast WiFi, Aerogard insect repellent and the plastic Australian banknote, to name a few. Until someone, just like you, joined us and took on the challenge. We’re recruiting inventors, innovators and change makers. Join Team CSIRO and help make the impossible possible.

CSIRO Mineral Resources works across industry to deliver sustainable resources development in Australia and is delivering breakthrough innovation to create a more productive, sustainable and globally competitive mining and mineral resources industry for the benefit of Australia and the world around. CSIRO Mineral Resources (CMR) is one of the largest minerals research and development groups globally, with a proud track record in delivering innovation and solutions across the mineral resources value chain. We thrive on innovation harnessed by the diversity in our teams, supporting individuals to create a dynamic career path leveraging their lived experiences and identity in an inclusive environment. We apply our expert knowledge and specialised research to provide innovation that solves the complex problems faced by minerals companies, mining equipment, technology, and services (METS) companies, government, and other industry stakeholders.

You will be a part of the High Temperature Chemistry team, contributing to the delivery of research projects related to the decarbonisation of the iron ore and steel industries as well as critical mineral initiatives. Your role will focus particularly on leadership and delivery of a >$5m project developing a novel low carbon-footprint iron ore agglomeration process for Australia’s vastly under-utilised magnetite ores. The role will also involve collaboration and communication across multiple groups and projects, internal and external to CSIRO.
