The Opportunity

Monash University's Department of Civil Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for the position of Research Officer (Hardware Engineer). The successful candidate will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the development of smart water monitoring and control technologies as part of the {low-cost environmental sensor development} program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize printed circuit board layouts for environmental sensors
  • Develop and maintain necessary sensor firmware
  • Conduct lab trials and field experiments to validate hardware performance
  • Develop and document operating procedures for hardware and sensor systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly
  • Undertake data analysis to derive meaningful insights from sensor readings
  • Perform field maintenance to ensure continued functionality of deployed hardware
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and create a safe research environment

The Research Officer will work closely with leading researchers and PhD students in the Department of Civil Engineering, collaborating to meet the research requirements efficiently.
