The School of Psychiatry is widely reputed as the pre-eminent psychiatric research department in the country, and one of the leading university groups internationally. It is located at the UNSW teaching hospitals at various metropolitan sites in the Sydney region and in rural New South Wales.
The Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) is a premier research institution at UNSW Sydney investigating brain ageing and is positioned as an international centre of excellence in multidisciplinary research.
This position has been established to help facilitate research projects related to vascular cognitive disorders. The Research Officer will be someone with a proactive and can-do attitude who will use their exceptional research skills to provide technical and operational support to the team and assist with the management of a range of research projects coordinated by CHeBA, including a study of vascular cognitive impairment funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council. This project aims to test novel MRI imaging measures of vascular function in brain in people living with Mild Cognitive Impairment or dementia arising from vascular pathology.
$90,000K - $96,000K plus 17% superannuation and leave loading pro rata
Fixed Term for 12 months from date of appointment.
Position is full time (1.0 FTE/35 hours per week)
To be successful in this role you will have:
Qualifications:
- A tertiary recognised qualification in Psychology (Honours) or related discipline.
- Tertiary postgraduate qualifications are desirable.
Skills:
- Ability to communicate with people living with dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment.
- Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design, and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Experience
- Demonstrated high level of experience and theoretical knowledge of psychometric assessment of older adults with cognitive impairment.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including MS Office, MS Teams, online survey tools, and statistical software.
