The Opportunity

The Department of Human Centred Computing (HCC) is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Research Fellow to join SensiLab, a leading research laboratory investigating the creative possibilities of technology. A joint initiative between the Faculties of Information Technology and Monash Art Design & Architecture (MADA), SensiLab integrates creative practice with advanced technology in a trans-disciplinary setting. As Research Fellow, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team supporting an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded project on Explainable Artificial Creativity. This project aims to develop explainable models for creative Artificial Intelligence systems that enable productive and high-quality interactions between AI systems and their human co-creators. The research fellow will program and develop generative artificial intelligence and deep learning systems, including working with state-of-the-art transformer and diffusion models. This experience will be practically applied in developing new kinds of human-computer co-creative systems.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a research Masters or doctoral qualification in Computational Creativity, or a closely related field. You will have advanced programming skills in languages such as Python, and experience in software engineering tools such as Git, Docker and Sphinx.
