  • Based in the Future Industries Institute at the Mawson Lakes campus
  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) fixed term contract for 3 years
  • Starting salary: $109,074 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role  

You will contribute to the research efforts of the Future Industries Institute, in particular you will undertake research investigating the chemistry and plant availability of a novel potassium fertiliser in soils in collaboration with the University of Queensland. This project will use a wide range of laboratory and glasshouse experiment in conjunction with advanced spectroscopic methods to understand the reaction of fertilisers in wide range of soils.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, perform and record experimental work 
  • Communicate research outcomes in both verbal and written form including presentations and reports 
  • Develop a record of independent research that results in high-quality publications 
  • Ensure delivery of project’s research milestones, objectives and work programs are met on time, within budget and to the industry partner’s satisfaction 
  • Contribute to the teaching activities of the University 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A PhD qualification in a relevant discipline with a focus on soil science
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in experimentation in agricultural/environmental chemistry, soil fertility and plant nutrition, and supporting analytical techniques 
  • Demonstrated research productivity as a postdoctoral researcher, with experience relevant to at least one research strand 
  • Record of independent research resulting in high-quality publications and evidence of growing citation impact
