The Opportunity

Join our team as a Research Fellow and be at the forefront of research in women’s health and remote medical services. This position will play a crucial role in the Australian sub-study of the international How Far is Too Far project, which aims to determine the safe distance for providing medical abortions from facilities capable of emergency surgery and blood transfusions. This position involves conducting and analysing qualitative interviews with healthcare providers and women in remote communities, as well as extracting and analysing quantitative data from clinic charts which will help generate vital evidence to inform healthcare practices in remote areas.

In addition to research activities, the Research Fellow will engage in project governance, ensuring the smooth progress of the study and providing detailed reports on the findings from Australia. You will have the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team, producing conference and seminar papers and contributing to high-impact publications. This role also involves preparing research proposals for submission to external funding bodies, enhancing your experience and visibility in the academic community.

We are seeking candidates with a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or have equivalent research experience. Expertise in mixed methods research, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches, is also essential and a background in primary care, women’s health, or public health will also be highly valued. Strong statistical analysis skills and a proven track record in manuscript and research proposal preparation are crucial.

If you are passionate about advancing women’s health and have the qualifications and skills to contribute to this important research, we encourage you to apply and be part of a team that makes a real difference.
