About the Role
The Research Fellow - Artificial Intelligence will lead multiple projects focusing on AI-driven approaches for youth mental health treatment at Orygen Digital. Responsibilities include coordinating AI partnerships, designing trial protocols, writing grant proposals, and publishing research articles. The role involves overseeing research projects, formulating protocols, and implementing management strategies for both AI research initiatives and clinical operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively assist in conducting high-impact research in the field of AI for digital mental health treatments
  • Develop and implement AI algorithms and models to personalise digital mental health interventions and analyse complex datasets  related to mental health disorders and treatment outcomes.
  • Publish and present research findings in high-quality scientific journals and conferences.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will possess expertise in AI and machine learning applied to mental health, strong communication skills, mentoring experience, and collaborative abilities.

You will also have:

  • A PhD. in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field, with a strong focus on AI and machine learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying state of the art AI and machine learning frameworks and techniques in the health sector, preferably mental health.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex AI models and techniques with a range of people across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong publication record in relevant scientific journals.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
