The Opportunity

The Institute of Railway Technology (IRT) is the premier track and vehicle research centre in Australia, and it provides world-leading solutions in the areas of wheel-rail interface design, track design and maintenance as well as rollingstock assessments and modelling. IRT undertakes technology development, applied research and consulting activities for the railway industry.

IRT is currently recruiting for a Research Engineer in Embedded Sensor Edge Computing to join the team!

Working with other IRT specialists, the Research Engineer (Embedded Sensor Edge Computing) will support the scoping, undertaking and managing of technical activities, projects and deliverables related to a wide range of condition monitoring solutions for both rolling stock and track related projects. These projects will include the development of both hardware and software solutions for a range of sensors from accelerometers to acoustic and image capture. The role will require the development of advanced analytical signal processing techniques including machine learning, image processing and augmented reality.
