About the Centre for Future Health Systems:

The Centre for Future Health Systems is a newly established research, policy and advocacy initiative based at the University of New South Wales and supported by The Ian Potter Foundation, that aims to improve health systems to deliver equitable, sustainable and person-centred health care for all people. The Centre focuses ten years or more from now to explore what health systems should look like to best meet community needs. The Centre has adopted a truly interdisciplinary approach that includes not only experts from the health sector, but also from other disciplines including computer science, technology, law and ethics, business and economics, social science and more.

Why Your Role Matters:

As a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, you will be expected to carry out both independent and collaborative team research on aspects of future health systems, contributing to the research effort of the Centre for Future Health Systems whilst maintaining strong links with researchers in the Faculty of Law and Justice.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining a strong linkage to researchers in the Faculty of Law & Justice
• Contributing to the development of applications for competitive funding under the guidance of senior colleagues.
• Participating as a co-investigator or chief investigator in competitive grant applications, or show evidence of active participation in research collaborations funded by competitive grants.
• Designing research projects.
• Mentoring and guiding students and colleagues and develop the next generation of academics through involvement in supervision of HDRs

Who You Are:

To be considered at a level A:

• A degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) or another relevant discipline.
• A PhD in a related discipline, or substantial progress towards completion of the PhD, and/or relevant work experience.
• Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with knowledge and developments in future health systems.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research, including literature reviews and rapid evidence synthesis and/or other contributions to law reform, policy and other processes, and to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated track record of publications and/or conference presentations and/or other contributions to law reform, policy or other processes, relative to opportunity.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
• Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.

To be considered at a level b (in addition to the above):

• Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
• A track record of involvement with health-related industries, health-related research or relevant legal and policy aspects of health, aged care or other fields relevant to health systems.
• High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff from different research disciplines.
