Why Your Role Matters:

As a Research Associate/Post-Doctoral Fellow (Level A) you will contribute towards the research effort of UNSW and to develop your research expertise through contributing to multiple and diverse projects relevant to your expertise and interests, and being supported to develop your own research program.

The role of Research Associate/Post-Doctoral Fellow reports to project chief investigators and the Centres Director, and has no direct reports.

This opportunity is ideal to build a research career. You will be part of a broader team working in social and heal,th policy research projects. You will also work with researchers who are leaders in the field and will develop skills such as writing grant applications, conducting commissioned research for government, contributing to investigator-driven research projects, designing and implementing advanced research methods, and employing cutting edge analytic methods.

Accountabilities

Specific accountabilities required for this position are (but not limited to):

  • Contribute independently and/or as a team member in collaborative social policy research and social research in health, to enhance the quality of research outcomes and contribute to policy, practice, and communities
  • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative research and contribute to creating scholarly output that is recognised by peers.
  • Undertake specific research project/s under the guidance of a research leader and contribute to development of research activities.
  • Support the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels and outlets.
  • Undertake research using a range of methods and activities, including. surveys, literature reviews, data gathering and/or recording of results data analysis and writing articles, reports, and other research outputs
  • Participate in and/or present at conferences and/or workshops relevant to the project as required.  
  • Assist with the supervision of research students in the research area where required.  

Who You Are:

  • A PhD (or near completed PhD) in a related discipline, and/or relevant equivalent work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
