Research Assistant, Road Engineering

• Full-time, Fixed Term position for 12 months

• Salary Level Academic A + 17% Superannuation

• Based at the Bundoora East campus

About the role

As Research Assistant, you will undertake research activities on an ARC funded grant in line with the University’s research strategy. It is expected that you will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

• Proven experience performing experimental research with asphalt and bitumen testing in the laboratory

• Sound understanding and good knowledge of Australian and international standards on bitumen/asphalt as well as the ability to work independently in conducing laboratory tests on asphalt and bitumen

• Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field

• Ability to generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government

• Demonstrated high level communication skills including the ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners

• Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required
