  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About the Role
As the Research Assistant in Quantum Diamond Measurement System, you will undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy.  It is expected that you will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop. 

You will work as part of a Defence-funded multi-disciplinary in collaboration with our industry partners, KPMG, on the topic of quantum measurements with embedded quantum diamond sensors.  You will be expected to experimentally test and evaluate hybrid diamond materials using techniques like confocal microscopy, spectroscopy and optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR).  You will likely have a background that includes strong experimental expertise from a background of either Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.  You may be required to travel domestically to Adelaide at times during the project.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated experience in quantum measurements with diamond sensors, or related materials, relevant to the project. 

  • Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field. 

  • Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners. 

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required. 

  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills.

  • Mandatory Qualifications: Qualification in the relevant discipline area preferably at postgraduate level.
