  • Full-time, fixed-term contract until 1 December 2025
  • Commencement salary: $77,390 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

Reporting to the Professorial Lead, you will provide support for animal research projects, including Plasma Flush – translating cold plasma technology as an antimicrobial wound irrigation towards clinical trial, funded, and A stimuli responsive dressing for treatment of wound infection in Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Conduct high-quality research under general supervision and broad direction to contribute to the successful project grant outcomes 
  • Design and perform experiments involving in vivo wound models (small and large animal models) to fulfil the requirements of the grant application as well as other industry projects as they arise 
  • Contribute to the development of animal ethics applications, IBC applications and chemical risk assessments to ensure that everything is undertaken according to the latest WHS regulations and biosafety protocols 
  • Provide advice to postgraduate students, internship students and visiting students in the appointee’s area of expertise 
  • Prepare or contribute to the preparation of refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers arising from the research 

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • An Honours degree in Biomedical and/or Animal Sciences and/or relevant research experience 
  • Skills and experience using in vivo models, including animal handling, anaesthetics, clinical management, record keeping and writing animal ethics applications 
  • Experience in tissue processing, histology and immunohistochemistry 
  • Experience of protein analysis including Western blotting 
  • Project management skills, including the ability to initiate, plan and manage projects ensuring milestones are met
