The Centre for Crop Health is one of nine research centres within the University, with a vision to be recognised for delivering world-class research into biotic and abiotic factors affecting crop health. The Centre for Crop Health specialises in multidisciplinary agricultural research bringing together specialists from crop biology, plant pathology, bioinformatics and genetics.

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team of scientists at the Centre for Crop Health at UniSQ!

What youll do

Working alongside a large group of crop protection researchers and scientists in state-of-the-art research facilities, you will be a crucial part of our team, responsible for various technical aspects related to barley net blotch projects. Your duties will include:

  • Growing fungal cultures and preparing inoculum for glasshouse trials.
  • Assisting in planting, maintaining, and harvesting barley field experiments.
  • Collecting and organising project data while ensuring scientific data integrity.
  • Providing scientific data for publications, reports, and industry materials.
  • Collaborating effectively with scientists, technicians, and support staff.

What will help you succeed

Having excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as an effective team member will be key to your success. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who possesses the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Diploma or Associate Diploma in the relevant field, coupled with relevant work experience or education/training.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of crop pathology, particularly fungal diseases of winter cereals, and expertise in conducting field trials, from designing to planting, is crucial.
  • A strong work ethic, including the capability to handle routine tasks with precision and apply high levels of scientific accuracy and integrity in data management, is essential.
  • Meeting daily work targets and timelines consistently while contributing effectively as part of a team and fostering a positive work environment further enhances ones success in this multifaceted role.

Salary: Total remuneration range $88,559 to $100,438 pa (includes salary range of $74,828 to $84,865 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
