The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide is one of the most prestigious institutions of its kind in Australia. As of 2024, the faculty comprises eight schools, including the Adelaide Dental School. The Adelaide Dental School is consistently ranked as one of the top schools for dentistry in Australia, placing 25th globally in the QS World Ranking of dental institutions. The successful applicant will be directly involved with the Dental Loop Initiative, one of Australia’s first research initiatives dedicated exclusively to integrating modern AI into dentistry.

Specific Role Requirements:

  • Be comfortable participating in fully recorded data collection sessions of simulated clinical scenarios.
  • Assist in preparing data to train generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems for dental research. The successful applicant will not need to interact with the AI systems being developed, so programming knowledge is not necessary.
  • Demonstrate good attention to detail and can make instant decisions based on the presented scenario.
  • Possess complete fluency in Australian English, including slang and dialects, to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals and research participants during data collection.
  • Preferably studying or have a background in health and medical sciences, with understanding of the Australian healthcare system.

Benefits of the role to the applicant

You will gain hands-on experience in healthcare academia and translational research, with a particular emphasis on the dental industry. Participating in simulated clinical scenarios will help you develop critical thinking skills and expertise in conducting healthcare research. This experience can also enhance your proficiency in professional communication and deepen your understanding of research methods.

Please provide the following information and documents to be considered for the role:

  • A copy of your resume / CV including relevant experience (no more than 2 pages)
  • A single page cover letter is optional, but welcomed
  • If successfully shortlisted, you will be invited for a 10-minute online interview, with a few interview time slots available for discussion over subsequent phone or email correspondences.
