Your role
This position is responsible for providing high-level of administrative assistance for a specific funded project: Vietnam Design Research Studio for Sustainable and Resilient Fashion Ecosystems. This project aims to revitalize Vietnam's ethnic fashion heritage by integrating it with sustainable urban practices, thus enriching the country's fashion ecosystem through platforms of documentation and engagement. Over three years, the project will unfold in key locations across Vietnam, including a building a collaborative digital platform, connecting with RMIT's global network and underscoring RMIT's commitment to impactful, globally engaged community development.
Working under the general direction of the Primary Investigator, the Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting research activities when needed. This includes administering data collection, demonstrating communication, accountability, flexibility/adaptability.
Working under the general direction of the direct and indirect reports, this position is also responsible for coordinating the day-to-day research support activities of the project, acting as the first point of contact for all enquiries related to the project, and provide support when needed. Specific responsibilities will depend on the topic, nature and duration of the project, as provided by the Primary Investigator.
Key Accountabilities
The Research Assistants are expected to perform the following items in addition to other necessary activities related to project implementations:
To help administer data collection as needed.
To assist the Primary Investigator with communication, planning tasks, event management and research administration.
To ensure compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures, including research ethics, equity and health & safety, and laboratory standards and exhibit good practice with same.
Develop internal and external contacts to further knowledge and form collaborative networks.
Assist the Project Leader and researchers with data collection and the collation of results.
Key Selection Criteria
A University degree in the relevant discipline in Professional Communication or Business or Design or a relevant field.
Demonstrated ability to access diverse members of communities and liaise with people at all levels, particularly the project team.
Problem-solving skills that assure detailed follow-up when required.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications and analytical software.
Experience in working within a fast environment.
Demonstrated good writing and verbal communication skills as well as a proactive mindset.
Skills and interest in digital tools, such as Adobe and LMS design is an advantage

Contract duration: 12 months (the first contract: to 30 Jun 2024)

English Proficiency
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS General 5.5 (or equivalent Linguaskill 150).
