About the opportunity

The School of Physics is welcoming applications for a Research and Development Engineer to support the development of Radio Frequency (RF) signal processing platforms for the Jericho Smart Sensing Laboratory (JSSL) project on Radio Frequency Shaping and Sensing (RFSS).

Utilising both your technical expertise and time management skills, you will collaborate with researchers and electronics/software engineers to deliver new algorithms to perform advanced RF signal processing and to develop hardware testbed. The role will also work on developing a graphical user interface for lab prototypes and managing data collection. You will be required to directly address software and hardware issues that arise, or in the case of issues outside the scope of your key responsibilities to work with more senior staff, or staff with skills more relevant to the problem.

About you

  • a degree with subsequent relevant experience or extensive experience in electronics engineering or software engineering with knowledge or experience working with radio frequency
  • Honours, Masters, or PhD are highly valued
  • demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work, sometimes under pressure with competing priorities and sometimes limited supervision
  • proven skills in radio frequency software engineering
  • sound knowledge and experience in developing multi-threaded applications
  • demonstrated experience in delivering algorithms to perform advanced RF signal processing
  • experience in delivering algorithms to perform advanced RF signal processing
  • Experience with interfacing with hardware sensors/systems, writing graphical user interfaces for lab prototypes and programming of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).
