About the Role

Westerns Research Infrastructure team is seeking a skilled Senior Technical Officer to contribute to our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Facility. As a key member of the team, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing scientific discovery.
The Senior Technical Officer, NGS, contributes to the effective operation of the Next Generation Sequencing Facility, which offers Illumina’s sequencing technology and provides comprehensive support throughout the whole next-gen project pipeline. In this role you will operate and maintain NGS instrumentation, perform quality control assessments, manage sample processing and analysis, prepare reports and documentation, provide training and support to customers, and ensure compliance.
Please note 1 x Senior Technical Officer will manage sample and experimental data within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring accurate data management and smooth laboratory workflows.
We have 2 x positions available (1 x Full-Time Ongoing and 1 x Full-Time Fixed-Term for 1 Year. These positions are based at Westerns Hawkesbury Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

About You
The Successful candidate will have a degree in molecular biology or a relevant discipline. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated experience performing next-generation sequencing techniques, preferentially Illumina MiSeq platform, including familiarity with automated handling systems. Well developed analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines are essential qualities.

HEW Level 6 $107,358 to $115,073 p.a. (comprising Salary of $90,719 to $97,238 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
