Your New Role

Curtin’s WA School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering is dedicated to advancing education and research in STEM. We are embarking on a two-year project aimed at enhancing our business processes, improving our budget profile, and developing new funding streams. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced

Project Manager

to lead this transformative journey.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of ongoing projects, implementing necessary amendments while navigating difficult conversations and challenging existing cultural norms.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on project management fundamentals, including the effective use of resources such as BI Dashboards.
  • Create and implement robust internal processes for the efficient management of new projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish a prioritization framework and develop a comprehensive costing model for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requests.
  • Assess resource implications and develop compelling business cases for additional resources as needed.
  • Design and implement short training modules tailored to meet specific industry needs.
  • Investigate the feasibility of various forms of CPD courses to ensure their viability.
  • Work under the guidance of the School Business Manager to develop a strategic workforce plan that ensures knowledge retention and business continuity.
  • Enhance the capabilities of internal staff to effectively cover strategic positions, particularly during leaves and retirements.

Selection Criteria:
Essential

  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) and extensive relevant experience; or extensive relevant project management experience and expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated high level project management skills with the ability to manage and implement project plans to achieve desired outcomes within budget and resourcing constraints.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated high level written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise project reports.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to accuracy and detail within deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a cross functional team, including the capacity to supervise and manage other staff.
  • Demonstrated critical analysis skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making.
  • Desirable
  • Previous experience in a tertiary environment.
  • A formal certification/accreditation in project management.
