About the Role
This is an extraordinary opportunity for a dedicated individual to drive meaningful change in education accessibility for First Nations communities. As the bridge between the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence and the Department of Rural Health, you'll spearhead projects that directly impact the lives of First Nations students, fostering stronger community partnerships and paving the way for increased tertiary education opportunities. With a focus on community engagement, project management, and innovative approaches to education, this role aligns with the Murmuk Djerring Indigenous strategy of the University of Melbourne and the core values of the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence and Rumbalara Football Netball Club.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To enhance the partnership between the University Department of Rural Health and Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence.
  • To engage with local Aboriginal communities to identify educational activities that are important to local Aboriginal communities in the Goulburn Valley.
  • To work with the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence and the Aboriginal team at University Department of Rural Health to develop and design community-directed projects focused on tertiary education for First Nations people.

Who We Are Looking For
You thrive in project coordination within Aboriginal communities, embodying organisation and planning skills. Your excellent interpersonal and communication abilities foster constructive relationships, handling sensitive matters tactfully.

You will also have:

  • Experience working in and with Aboriginal communities.
  • Strong engagement and partnership skills.
  • Experience of project coordination/management, organisation and planning within Aboriginal communities.  
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills and ability to learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Tertiary training and/or work experience in a similar role.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
