About This Opportunity 

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow with experience in neuroimaging analysis and handling of large datasets. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise and an emerging research profile within the discipline of clinical and computational neuroimaging. You will also contribute to student supervision, commensurate with your level of experience.



Key responsibilities include:  

  • Independent Research Development: Initiate and develop independent research projects aligned with the broader theme of psychiatry neuroimaging, with a particular focus on complex trauma and depression.

  • Data Processing and Analysis: Utilize state-of-the-art image processing techniques, advanced statistical analyses, and super-computing facilities to process and analyze large datasets.

  • Research Project Management: Oversee the day-to-day management of research projects. This includes conducting literature reviews, data analysis and archiving, and developing neuroimaging pipelines.

  • Publication and Presentation: Publish research findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present your work at scientific conferences.

  • Research Program Development: Establish and develop a coherent research program to enhance your emerging research profile.

  • Student Supervision: Contribute effectively to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research (PHD and Master) students, as appropriate to your level of experience.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term, 2-year position. At Academic level A the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $75,808.68 - $100,926.59, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $88,696.16 - $118,084.11 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You  

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in Neuroimaging, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Psychology, or related fields.

  • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Strong experience in neuroimaging data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation.

  • Experience handling large neuroimaging datasets and using supercomputers for image analysis.

  • Flexibility and ability to work both unsupervised and as a member of a team.

  • Proficient in neuroimaging tools (e.g., FSL, SPM, AFNI, Freesurfer) and familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB).

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
