About This Opportunity 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in their discipline. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Research: Produce quality research outputs through publications or exhibitions.

  • Engage in competitive research funding applications.

  • Collaborate on joint research projects and funding applications.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to effective student supervision.

  • Demonstrate effectiveness in researcher management.

  • Lead supervisee performance and development.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to 31st May 2025

At Academic level A. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324 - $102,945, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,470 - $120,445 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You  

  • PhD in the area biochemistry/molecular biology/cell biology. 

  • A track record, relative to opportunity, that demonstrates an ability to perform research to the highest standards and publish first rate manuscripts.

  • Evidence of a contribution to research through publication of scholarly papers in the international literature and presentation of scientific work at national/international meetings.

  • Proven research skills that include cell culture, cell biological assays, microscopy and preferably experience in the use of in vivo models / animal handling.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to present and discuss own research work, contribute to discussion of the work of others, and pass on technical skills.

  • Proven ability to maintain accurate and clear experimental records.

  • Awareness of laboratory safety (such as radiation and chemical toxicity) and Occupational Health and Safety.

  • Ability to work responsibly and accurately.

  • It is desirable to have previous experience in cell biology methodologies.

  • Experience in small animal handling and techniques would be desirable.

  • Experience with fluorescence confocal microscopy and experience with high-resolution microscopy preferred but not required.
