  • Base Salary Level A or B $105,350 - $140,586 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint three Postdoctoral Research Associates/Fellows in Veterinary or Animal Science. The positions are research-focused appointments starting at Level A (step 6) for outstanding, independent, early career researchers (less than 5 years post PhD award), with a strong publication record relative to opportunity. Successful candidates will contribute to one of the SSVS’s research themes of Infectious diseases and biosecurity; Animal welfare; Wildlife health and preservation; Food security; Genetics, genomic and taxonomy; Evidence-based Clinical Practice; and Veterinary Education.  These positions provide a unique opportunity for early career researchers to establish their future research direction.

The associates/fellows are expected to design and conduct innovative research programs, publish their work in highly ranked journals, co-supervise higher degree by research students and advice Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) research projects. They will also be expected to provide up to 30 hours of undergraduate or postgraduate teaching per year within their area of expertise, with access to career development in education pedagogy within the School and University. It is essential that successful applicants strive to maintain and grow a culture of collaboration and excellence in their research, their interactions with academic and professional staff, and their support and mentoring of students.

About you

  • a PhD (less than 5 years from completion) in Veterinary / Animal / or relevant Biomedical Science, along with evidence of strong research output

  • demonstrated success in applying for external grants and completing milestones

  • evidence of an independent or emerging research program and expertise in an area of Veterinary Science or Animal Science.
